Welcome to Change Ready

It’s lovely to meet you, I’m Davina. I can’t wait to hear more about the changes you’re planning.

At Change Ready we help leaders, change professionals, line managers and their teams develop the skills and confidence to deliver change with ease.

If you’re involved in a project and want to learn how to create more impact with less drama, you’re in the right place!

“I believe change is a skill everyone can learn. And it’s easier than you think.”

Davina Ripton, Change Ready

How can I help?

I have 20+ years experience in commercial and business change roles, working with SMEs, not-for-profits, global financial services and retail businesses.

I’m a qualified Prosci (ADKAR) and APMG Change Management practitioner and Personal & Business Coach.

When I founded Change Ready in 2016 my aim was simple: to help leaders and their teams develop the skills and confidence to deliver impactful change with ease, by making tools, templates and training accessible to all.

Since then I have distilled what I learned into simple online courses, playbooks and training programmes using my tried-and-tested Change Ready framework.

I’d love to know more about the changes you want to make.

Consultancy

Take a fresh look at how change is delivered in your organisation. Together we can work out what's already working well and understand the impact of any gaps.

I’ll help you establish or redesign your change management framework/methodology, supported with playbooks and toolkits for consistency across your team.

I also provide hands-on help with business change design, planning, management and delivery.

Courses

Managing change is a key leadership skill, but it's rarely taught in businesses.

The Change Ready courses are designed to develop your skills and confidence so you can lead your team or play an active part in the changes that affect you.

Courses are delivered online, so you can learn at your own pace and access guides, videos, tools and templates that enable you to put what you learn into practice straight away.

I’ll be on hand to answer questions and support you with project-specific challenges.

Coaching

To accelerate your learning you may find 121 or group coaching helpful.

I provide a safe space to explore your own relationship with change and develop the skills and confidence needed to help others navigate change alongside you, taking some of that weight off your shoulders.

I can also help trouble-shoot specific project and change management challenges, including resistance, communications and engagement, training, coaching and adoption.

A bit about me

My change journey started with packing boxes …

My family moved every couple of years when I was growing up. With that came a regular cycle of packing boxes and getting to know new neighbourhoods, schools, teachers and friends.

I learned skills that would eventually lead me to a career in business change, but first I had some unlearning to do!

As a child I didn’t get to choose if we moved. I was a passenger along for the ride. I had no incentive to leave friends behind and faced a black hole of uncertainty ahead. These first experiences of change created a lot of resistance and a feeling that change was something negative that was done to people.

As an adult I started untangling these early experiences and through coaching and managing change at work I learned new skills and let go of bad habits. I realised that creating change with others delivers better solutions and more positive outcomes. With the right skills and mindset, change can feel empowering and exciting.

… which led to a career in change

My work has always featured change, long before it was in my job title. I love the process of working with others to create something new and meaningful and watching their confidence grow.

I could see the root of many business challenges led back to how well change was delivered and that the focus was all too often on the technology and process, not the people.

Training for leaders, line managers and teams isn’t given the priority it deserves; something I can’t get my head around given how fundamental it is to every manager’s role and the cost of getting it wrong.

… and then starting a business.

My personal experiences fuelled my passion to understand change and make it easier to deliver. I have distilled the years of experience, research and training I gained as a manager, client and consultant into the services I offer today through Change Ready.

Curious about working together?

People have described my working style as calm and collaborative. A safe pair of hands when you need it most.

“Davina brought true change expertise to the programme which enabled a much more effective delivery of the new technologies and supporting processes.

Davina took on the challenge of preparing the business for significant change and in parallel created a new level of change management understanding for the client.

Her commitment to the role and the successful delivery of the programme are a credit to her. She was respected by all of her colleagues and provided a great deal of value-add to the client by coaching and mentoring colleagues.”

Kieron Young ~ Change Leader

“Davina’s expertise in business readiness enabled us to successfully manage this change across our complex business where each area had specific needs and challenges.

Davina also trained our internal people so that her approach has now been adopted as best practice.

Expert, professional, dedicated and easy to work with, I would definitely recommend Davina.”

Become a change shaper

Change Ready’s values helped shape these design principles. This is how we work.

  • Don’t underestimate the impact you can have. Get involved, embrace the power you have and help shape the changes you want to see. It doesn’t have to be big, expensive or perfect. We meet you where you are.

  • Turn fear and uncertainty into curiosity and insight. Don’t assume you know. Don’t answer on behalf of others. Instead keep a beginner’s mindset, seeing things with fresh eyes and from different perspectives.

  • How we deal with change is deeply personal; what is easy and welcomed for one person can be challenging for others. Compassionate design is the end result of empathy + action. Taking time to understand the needs and contributions of everyone involved and supporting their individual journey through change.

  • Resistance to change is normal. Don’t brush it under the carpet. Create space for meaningful conversations about the good, bad and ugly aspects of change. It will yield insights that pave the way for action and a deeper level of engagement with the change. When you understand the obstacle you’ll often see the way forward.

  • Change is most effective when it’s created in a collaborative way by the people affected, not delivered to them by project teams. We use peer-to-peer communities to help understand problems, shape ideas and share skills.

  • There are too many changes needing our attention to waste time on things that don’t deliver meaningful impact. Be clear on the outcomes you’re working towards and focus on the changes that matter most. And don’t be afraid to challenge, change direction or stop a change if it’s taking you off track.

It’s not all work, work, work

In my spare time I love getting outdoors to walk and run trails in the Peak District. I also enjoy growing veg, reading my ever-growing mountain of books, good food and exploring new places.

Change features outside of work too. I’m a trustee for a local climate action charity and a sports association. Social equity and the climate crisis are key challenges of our time. Whilst we might not be able to change the world on our own, working with others and sharing our skills and time can make a real difference in our communities.

The Better Business Act

Change Ready supports the Better Business Act. We believe business has an important role to play in addressing social equity and the climate crisis. By working together we can make change that matters.
